Jackee Holder - Creative writing workshop & Book launch in Barbados

It?s no mean mean feat writing a book. Just when you think the bulk of the work is over the real work begins in the guise of marketing, promoting and getting the book sold. Gone are the days when you could sit on your butt and rely on the publishers and the generosity of the public to do this for you.

That?s what I?ve been up against since the latest publication of my newest book Be Your Best Life Coach. But I?ve risen to the challenge and since launching in October of last year took the bull by the horns and with some great support organised three book launches (one at my local library organised by Tony Fairweather of The Write Thing, one through Bajan entrepreneur and friend Sandy Parris through her company Ladies Who Lunch www.ladieswholunchuk.com and one at home) and in the process have sold literally 200 hundred books through personal an professional networks.

Our latest launch at home in South London was organised in partnership with Shades of Barbados headed up by the dynamic entrepreneur and best buddy Errol McCollin and my partner Sharron Wallace of Sharron Wallace Photography. We had a swell afternoon where over 40 people hung out and chatted the afternoon away. What struck me about the event was the way in which people really connected and said how great it was to just hang out on a Saturday afternoon in such great company.

So it made perfect business sense to partner (tell the truth we just love working with Errrol) with Shades for our latest venture to present our R (Rest) &  R (Relax) Retreat in June 2009.
